Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Sarangani, November 22, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.8 magnitude quake in Sarangani today, Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Negros Oriental earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Sarangani today. It had a magnitude of 5.8.

The earthquake today that struck Sarangani in Davao Occidental, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 10:49 a.m., was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 04.99°North, 126.00°East – 079 km South 54° East of Balut Island in Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 137 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The quake-recording bureau recorded did not cite any instrumental intensity detected as of this writing.
