Travel Vlogger Airs Dismay on How Filipinos Treat Coffee Shops as Makeshift Offices

Travel Vlogger Expresses Surprise at How Coffee Shops Are Treated in the Philippines

A UK travel vlogger has expressed his dismay at how Filipinos treat coffee shops as makeshift offices.

Dale Philip, a vlogger from Scotland, recently shared his vlog during his visit to the Philippines. He expressed his dismay at how coffee shops, particularly Starbucks, were being used as makeshift offices by many customers.

Philip was shocked when he noticed that the popular coffee shop chain in the Philippines, was filled with customers who were treating it like their workplace. Some customers would buy just one coffee and then stay for hours.

The foreign national observed that visitors were taking advantage of the coffee shop’s free Wi-Fi and electricity.

Expressing his frustration, Philip said, “Look at all these guys with their laptops just sitting, using it as their personal office. I would hate that. I would hate to have a business where people just come and use it as their personal office, use your WiFi and electricity, and buy like one coffee.”

The content creator couldn’t comprehend why some individuals prefer working in coffee shops when they could easily do so in their homes.

Just sit in your house, just sit in your condo, just sit in your hotel room and do your work…I don’t understand this whole concept,” he said.

As of now, Starbucks Philippines has yet to respond to Dale’s observations and concerns. The video has sparked discussions about the cultural differences in how coffee shops are used around the world.

  1. This vlogger obviously don’t understand that some people live in very tight, unpleasant, and uncomfortable spaces. Also, people doing that usually use their own wifi. But yeah, to be fair to the business owner if a customer buys one coffee each, that should only be for around 30 min. in chairs meant for how many they are.
