Class Suspensions Declared in The Following Areas Due to Flooding
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units declared class suspensions in various areas due to massive flooding.
From Wednesday night, November 8, 2023, to early morning on Thursday, November 9, 2023, the residents of Samantha Homes, Bago Gallera, Davao City experienced an unusual and massive flood that left several vehicles damaged and washed away.
The strong currents of the flood forced hundreds of residents to seek refuge on the rooftops of their homes, while others found themselves stranded in various locations.
The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and several volunteer groups in Davao City quickly mobilized rescue operations to help the affected residents.
Southern areas of Davao City, particularly in the Tugbok and Talomo Districts, experienced massive flooding due to heavy rains. The Gallera de Oro Subdivision in Bago Gallera, Davao City, was severely affected, with residents staying on their rooftops as the floodwaters rose.
The City Government of Davao, along with various volunteer groups, deployed emergency and rescue teams to assist the flood victims.
The massive flooding has prompted the local government to declare a suspension of classes across all levels, both in public and private schools, in the affected barangays.
