NOCHE BUENA 2023 – The Christmas season has already started, however, some products we love will have an increase.
One of the well-loved Christmas traditions is the Noche Buena and the activities done during this season vary from family to family and from culture to culture. But in the Philippines, this celebration includes food – a lot of them.
This is the time when a family prepares scrumptious and mouth-watering dishes.
This is a dinner celebration on Christmas Eve that lasts until the early morning of Christmas Day. But for this year, it seems we would have to raise our budget for this celebration if we would like a bounty to share with the family for this time as prices of meat products will accordingly have a “minimal” increase.
According to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), they are set to see the manufacturers of Noche Buena products. This is in preparation for the upcoming holiday.
Assistant Secretary Jean Francisco of the DTI’s Consumer Protection Group said that the manufacturers of processed meats agreed to make minimal price increases. This is despite the 15 percent to 20 percent increase in the production cost.
The manufacturers are also looking after the expenses of Filipino families. They want them to have a merry Christmas which is why they are just going to put a small increase in the prices.
“Pero dahil daw po gusto din naman nila na ang mga Pilipino ay maging masaya, so mababa lang po, parang, less than inflation nga, sabi nga ni Secretary (Alfredo) Pascual, parang zero to 4 percent iyong some of the meat products, very minimal,” says the assistant secretary.
The increase would be below inflation which is from zero to four percent.
They advise consumers to buy according to their budget and preference.
