Motorist Files Complaint vs Man Who Pretend as LTO Officer
FAKE LTO OFFICER – A man who allegedly posed as a Land Transportation Office (LTO) official has found himself in hot water after a motorist filed a complaint against him for unauthorized actions.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jurdinito Macula, was dressed in a complete LTO uniform, complete with a vest and identification card, giving off the image that he was a legitimate LTO employee.
Macula apprehended a motorist in Barangay Socorro for an alleged “unauthorized side mirror” violation. The motorist, suspicious of Macula’s actions, sought assistance from patrolling police officers after the suspect failed to produce a mission order or any proof of his LTO affiliation.
Upon further investigation at the police station, it was revealed that Macula was not a legitimate LTO employee.
“Ang laman po ng certification ng LTO-NCR (National Capital Region) ay hindi po siya naging empleyado o empleyado ng LTO, kaya peke ho talaga siya,” stated head of the Cubao Police Station Lieutenant Colonel Mark Janis Ballesteros.
The suspect’s modus operandi involved working alone while wearing a convincing LTO uniform and vest. This deceptive appearance led people to believe that he was a legitimate LTO official.
“Ang modus kasi nitong suspek ay mag-isa lang siyang gumagalaw at naka-uniporme ng pang-LTO at naka-vest kaya kung titignan mo, aakalain mo talaga na siya ay miyembro ng LTO,” Ballesteros added.
Macula has refused to provide a statement regarding the incident, and he now faces charges of usurpation of authority and violations under the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act.
