Nadia Montenegro talked about showbiz then and now
Seasoned actress Nadia Montenegro said that in entertainment nowadays, there are so many spoiled brats.
Nadia has been in the entertainment industry since she was young. In a recent vlog of her daughter Ynna Asistio, based on the article in Bandera, the seasoned actress shared she started doing commercials when she was just 7 years old.
She had already done 17 commercials before she became a part of the Regal Babies 2. Nadia shared that she and Gretchen Barretto auditioned for this and they both passed. They were studying at the Colegio de San Agustin back then with Marjorie Barretto.
Nadia Montenegro signed a contract with Regal when she was just 11 years old. She said that the showbiz world was very new to her but all she knew was that she was enjoying it. In their contract, it was stated that they had to do 10 movies each year. They were paid about P20,000 per movie and their bonus was P10,000.
At that time, that amount was already huge. She said that this generation of artists is lucky because they are more comfortable now. Nadia shared that back then, they did not have air-conditioned tents and comfortable chairs.
“Noong araw, sa likod, kanya kanya kayong space ng latagan ng folding bed,” the seasoned actress. She also stressed that their workshop back then was not a joke. They needed to be versatile and multitalented.
“Kasi nung araw, kailangan marunong kang kumanta, sumayaw, mag-host, umarte, maglakad, humarap sa tao. Hindi tulad ngayon. The ‘80s, ‘70s, ‘60s stars deserve much more respect in this industry than we’re getting now,” she said.
Because of this comfort and accessibility, Nadia said that this somehow had a negative impact. She pointed out that there are artists who do not exhibit good behavior.
“Kasi now, alam mo, dami naki-create na mga monsters, spoiled brats. Maraming spoiled brats na artista na akala mo… Hija, hijo, chill ka lang. Hindi yan ang [tuktok]. Dinadaan ka lang diyan. Find your real destiny,” Nadia Montenegro said.
