Bongbong Marcos and Mar Roxas were together in Capiz for this event
President Bongbong Marcos said that he and former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas have been friends for many years now.
Opposing political parties in the Philippines often have an intense rivalry. The conflict is inevitable, especially during election season. However, there are also politicians belonging to opposing sides but are friends in real life.
This was what PBBM expressed during his recent visit to Capiz where the clan of Roxas originally came from.
Mar Roxas ran for Vice President in 2010 as the running mate of the late President Noynoy Aquino. He ran for President in 2016 with former Vice President Leni Robredo as his running mate.
It is known to many that Roxas has been under the Liberal Party for almost the entirety of his political career. The political party is known as the critic of the Marcos regime. This is where the late Senator Ninoy Aquino led. He was known as the biggest critic of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
On October 6, Mar Roxas trended on X (Twitter). It is because he joined President Bongbong Marcos in giving away sacks of rice to 4Ps members in Capiz. During the Chief Executive’s speech before the people of the said province in the Visayas Region, he mentioned the bond that he has with Mar Roxas, which most people probably don’t know.
“Kami ni Mar, matagal na kami magkaibigan at kahit na hindi kami magkapanig kung minsan sa politika, matagal kami nagsama sa New York,” the President said, based on this report from Inquirer.

Marcos jokingly said that he hoped Roxas did not tell other people about their ventures in the Big Apple back then when they were still bachelors.
PBBM distributed the smuggled rice to beneficiaries in the San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.
