Philippine basketball fans were saddened when early this year, Barangay Ginebra captain LA Tenorio announced that he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. But recently, after months of treatment, he was declared clear of cancer.

LA TENORIO – The famous Pinoy basketball player announces his return to basketball after announcing that he is now free from cancer.

In a previous article, Ginebra’s “Iron Man” LA Tenorio announces that he is battling colon cancer which got lots of his fans and supporters worried. Tenorio was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and deeply apologized to the public for using his groin injury to cover up the real reason behind his absence.

And now, after many months of treatment, he is back to basketball and the good news with it is that he is now free from cancer.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Tenorio shared his emotional story of overcoming the disease and rising above his health condition. He expressed in his statement that the past 8 months of his life have been challenging for him and his family.

“My scan and last test results show no trace of cancer and that the treatment was effective. I am now in remission. Praise God! Now, I am returning to basketball. For my love of the game. This time with a higher purpose,” the 39-year-old veteran point guard said.

Being cleared of cancer, he is returning to the hard court as among the coaching staff of the Gilas Pilipinas for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. He is also now allowed to participate in practices.

Famous personalities such as Gary Valenciano, Ria Atayde, Jason Abalos, Nikki Gil, and Ramon Bautista expressed relief and cheered for him as takes this journey with a healthier body without the cancer.

He will be joining Richard del Rosario, Jong Uichico, and Josh Reyes in Cone’s coaching staff.

Tenorio was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer which he announced in March which ended his 17-season streak in the PBA.
