PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

On Thursday (September 7, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. According to the state weather bureau, the southwest monsoon is set to affect the weather conditions across various regions.

PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies and scattered rain over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the western Northern and Central Luzon sections. However, the cloudy skies prevailing over the Sulu Sea are not expected to develop into a low-pressure area.

“Mahinang habagat o southwest monsoon ang nakakaka-apekto sa kanlurang bahagi ng Northern Luzon at Central Luzon,” said weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.

This weather pattern is expected to result in moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall, raising concerns about possible flooding and landslides in these areas.

The Southwest Monsoon / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the entire Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in these areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
