Lala Sotto “Pinag-iinitan Ang It’s Showtime”? Here’s What She Said

MTRCB chair Lala Sotto speaks about the accusations.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto makes clarification about this.

A much-talked-about topic online is the suspension of It’s Showtime. The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announced on Monday that the Kapamilya noontime show is suspended for 12 airing days.

This is due to the alleged indecent acts displayed by hosts and real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez

Some people were confused while some agreed to the decision of the MTRCB. In a previous article, Sotto defended the decision of the MTRCB amid the criticisms and stressed that her basis is her spiritual conviction.

In a statement from MTRCB, it has been stated that Sotto inhibited from voting regarding the suspension of Showtime. It said that the chairperson was not involved in the 12-day suspension decision given to the show.

But some are not convinced. They are more convinced by the allegations that the MTRCB chair is targeting the Kapamilya show, a rival of her father’s show on TV5. In an interview, Sotto finally spoke about the allegations and made some clarifications.

According to her, they can immediately suspend the show but instead of doing this, they gave them time to file for motion for reconsideration for the sake of fairness. She said, “Again, in the spirit of fairness, we are giving them the chance kaya hindi sila suspended today. We will wait for its finality.”

Being the daughter of Tito Sotto, amid the conflict of interest claims of people online, she vehemently denied targeting the Kapamilya show.

“No, that is not true.”

She understands where the supporters are coming from and she knows why they are having such thoughts. It is natural for them to react this way but she believes that the violations made by the show is not MTRCB’s fault.

“Siguro, natural lang naman sa mga supporters ang maging ganun ang pakiramdam kasi, siguro, naririnig nila na parating nari-report. But hindi po kasalanan ng MTRCB ang violations na ginagawa nila,” based on a report from PEP.
