PAGASA Says Tropical Storm Goring to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH, Signal No.1 Raised in 4 Areas

PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in four areas due to the effects of Tropical Storm Goring.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Goring was located 225 kilometers east southeast of Basco, Batanes.

Goring has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 105 kph. It was moving south southwestward slowly. Rainfall is expected in elevated or mountainous areas.

“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several days,” PAGASA said.

The weather disturbance is enhancing the southwest monsoon, which will bring occasional rains over the western portions of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon.

The enhanced habagat is expected to bring gusty conditions over Aurora, Bataan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, and most of MIMAROPA and Visayas.
