Female Teacher Starts Covering Murals w/ White Paint Ahead of Class Opening for School Year 2023-2024
A female teacher has started to cover wall mural with white paint ahead of class opening for the school year 2023-2024.
The Facebook account of Teacher Eujan has shared photos featuring parent-volunteers applying white paint to the wall murals. The post immediately circulates online and elicits reactions from the internet users.
The female teacher and the volunteers took the task of covering their murals with a coat of white paint in response to the issuance of DepEd Order No. 21 s.2023 Oplan-Baklas. The order aims the removal of unauthorized learning materials from classrooms.
“Sa paglabas ng DepEd Order No. 21 s.2023 Oplan-Baklas, sinimulan naming pinturahan ng puti ang aming silid-aralan sa tulong ng mga parent-volunteers upang kami ay makasunod dito,” Eujan said.
The school performed the task to align with the new directive and ensure readiness for the upcoming academic year, 2023-2024. The act of painting over murals is a move intended to comply with the education department’s guidelines.
However, some people recognize the importance of complying to new standards, while others disagree with the removal of visually appealing decorations from classrooms, particularly in kindergarten and daycare settings.
“Ito ay kindergarten model classroom at buong classroom ay may murals dati. Unang natakpan puting pintura ang harap na bahagi ng silid-aralan noong nakaraang taon at ngayon ay tuluyan nang natakpan ng puting pintura ang murals upang makasuod sa DepEd at upang maging handa na sa pagbukas ng panuruang taon 2023-2024,” she said.
Murals, which are frequently conceived of as instructional aids that create a dynamic atmosphere, contribute to a comprehensive learning journey. While modifications may be required, it is critical to develop novel ways to blend both tradition and advancement in order to suit the demands of today’s learners.
