Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Cagayan, August 21, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Cagayan today, August 21, 2023.
Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Zamboanga del Norte last week, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. The quake hit Cagayan. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake today that struck Cagayan, Monday, August 21, 2023, at 04:11 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Dalupiri Island in Calayan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Cagayan was located at 19.27°North, 121.10°East – 021 km North 33° West of Dalupiri Island. It had a depth of focus of 016 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
