PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rainshowers in Several Areas
The state weather bureau PAGASA has reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rain showers to some parts of the country.
Over the past few weeks, the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, has continued to bring enhanced rainfall to the western side of the Philippines, particularly affecting areas facing the South China Sea. This monsoon flow often results in heavy rains and thunderstorms.
On Saturday (August 19, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update for the country. The southwest monsoon will impact the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA has reported that the habagat will bring rain showers over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The southwest monsoon will bring mostly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands.
Habagat and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, the rest of Visayas, and Occidental Mindoro. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions.
