PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Cloudy to Rainy Conditions Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau has reported that the habagat will bring cloudy to rainy conditions to parts of the country.

On Wednesday (August 16, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update for the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the southwest monsoon will bring scattered rain over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Makikita niyo itong kaulapan na ito maaaring magdala ng maulap na kalangitan na mas malaking tsansa ng pag-ulan, kasama na ang pagkidlat at pagkulog, partikular na dito sa may bahagi ng southern Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao,” Badrina said.

The habagat will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and BARMM.

Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro will experience mostly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The habagat and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency warned the affected residents to prepare for possible flooding and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains at times, along with severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon will be moderate, while Visayas and Mindanao will experience slight to moderate sea conditions, according to the weather bureau.

PAGASA stated that there are tropical cyclones detected both inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility. No weather disturbances are expected to enter the country’s vicinity until the end of the week.
