Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Cagayan, August 14, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Cagayan, August 14, 2023.
Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Sultan Kudarat yesterday, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the province. The quake hit Cagayan. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.5.
The earthquake today that struck Cagayan, Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:07 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Gonzaga in Cagayan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Cagayan was located at 18.00°North, 122.35°East – 047 km South 52° East of Gonzaga. It had a depth of focus of 010 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Peñablanca and Gonzaga in Cagayan.
