PAGASA Says Warm Weather w/ Isolated Rains Expected on Wednesday
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau has reported that a warm weather condition with isolated rains is expected over the Philippines.
On Wednesday (August 9, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update. The southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country. PAGASA is monitoring a tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Tropical Storm Lan was last spotted 2,670 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
“Hindi po natin ito inaasahang papasok o makakaapekto sa ating bansa. Makikita natin ito na patungo sa bahagi ng Japan,” weather specialist Obet Badrina said.
The southwest monsoon will continue to bring cloudy weather and scattered rain showers over Luzon, including Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Benguet.
The Habagat and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the entire Visayas, Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro. Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country will experience similar weather conditions.
Badrina said that a warm weather condition is expected today as no cyclones are expected to develop within this week. “Ang ilang bahagi pa ng ating bansa sa Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao ay makararanas ng mainit na panahon na may mga isolated na pag-ulan, pagkidlat, at pagkulog sa hapon hanggang sa gabi,” he added.
PAGASA has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains at times and severe thunderstorms.
