Arjo Atayde Europe Trip: House Of Representatives Releases Certification

The House Of Representatives clarifies the trip of Arjo Atayde to Switzerland, Italy, and Greece.

Amid the buzz, the House Of Representatives released a statement about the Europe trip of Arjo Atayde.

Quezon City 1st District Rep. Arjo Atayde will have a three-week, personally-funded trip to Europe. Arjo’s wife Maine Mendoza will be with him on this trip and the House of Representatives has given him a green light as early as last month.

However, in a previous article, the actor-politician’s wife called out a certain report made by a popular online newspaper.

The article has accordingly stated that Arjo’s Europe trip was an “official trip” which, according to Maine, was “misleading and false”. This has created a loud buzz online and recently, the House of Representatives has released the certification about the trip that clarified the matter.

In the document, it has reflected that the actor-turned-congressman was issued a travel authority for his “Official travel to Switzerland, Italy, and Greece on 05-27 August 2023”. It was dated last July 10 by the House leadership.

It was signed by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco and has a travel authority number IPRS-0723-PT2495.

The travel authority stated:

“This is to authorize your Honor to travel to Switzerland to witness the will witness the international screening of the movie Topakk during the 2023 Locarno International Film Festival, in your capacity as vice chairperson of the Special Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts.”

He was also authorized to visit the Filipino communities in Italy and Greece.

In the certification, it indicated that Atayde “did not request for any funding from the House of Representatives and said travel will be at his own expense”.

Meanwhile, Arjo and Maine’s wedding happened last July 28 in Baguio. Two days after their wedding, they were spotted at the wedding of Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez in Bali, Indonesia.
