How to Turn Off the Irritating @Everyone Tag on Facebook
@EVERYONE – Here’s how to turn off that annoying @Everyone tag on Facebook.
Have you ever been tagged in a group chat on Facebook only to realize that the message was meant for everyone, not just you?
Back in March 2022, Messenger introduced the “@everyone” shortcut tag to quickly grab the attention of all group members, ensuring that important messages wouldn’t be missed. Instead of individually tagging friends, you can simply use “@everyone,” and every member in the group will receive a notification.
Recently, this feature made its way into Facebook groups, allowing members to tag “@everyone” in posts they want to ensure everyone sees. This proves particularly helpful for group administrators or moderators who need to highlight important announcements or upcoming events, especially in highly active groups.
Although it’s perfect for time-sensitive matters that require everyone’s input, like impromptu get-togethers, it can become bothersome when abused by group members, causing unnecessary anxiety from constant notifications.
Users who have muted their group chats won’t receive these notifications. But for those who can’t mute their group chats, you can try disabling the tag itself. However, it’s worth noting that based on previous experiences, disabling this feature may also prevent you from tagging everyone in group chats.
To turn off the “@everyone” tag in group chats, follow these steps:
- Go to the Menu and click the Settings icon.
- Click Profile Settings.
- Tap “Notification settings”
- Scroll down and click “Tags”
- Toggle off the “Batch @everyone mentions”
