Bar Selling ‘Laughing Gas’ in Pasay City Raided by NBI

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided a bar in Pasay City allegedly selling nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas.”

The raid on the bar was carried out by the NBI Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division following a month-long surveillance investigation prompted by reports of illegal laughing gas sales.

The investigation revealed that the establishment was regularly visited by Vietnamese nationals, some of whom were caught using nitrous oxide-filled balloons.

Authorities can be seen apprehending the customers and collecting numerous tanks of nitrous gas used to replenish the balloons in a video of the operation. Because of the potential for abuse and accompanying health dangers, the laughing gas phenomena has alarmed the public.

The authorities also recovered a sachet of what appeared to be a party drug in the bar.

Authorities have arrested the bar’s employees, who claim they were unaware that selling laughing gas was illegal. This incident raised concerns about the duty of business owners and their employees to be aware of the substances sold on their premises and to obey the government policies.

The existence of such a bar in the area shocked the local barangay, indicating that increased monitoring and collaboration between authorities and communities may be required to handle increasing issues related to substance abuse and illegal drug trading.
