Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Oriental, July 22, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.8 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental, today, Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Sulu a few months ago, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.8.
The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental today, Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 03:24 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Tarragona in Davao Oriental.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Sarangani was located at 06.75°North, 126.73°East – 045 km South 44° East of Tarragona. It had a depth of focus of 018 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt and recorded due to the said quake. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
