Male Employee Passes Away After He Was Electrocuted at Lechon Manok Store in Tondo, Manila

A male employee tragically lost his life after reportedly getting electrocuted in a lechon manok store where he worked in Tondo, Manila on Sunday evening (July 9, 2023).

The victim was identified as Wetinton Garcia, 26 years old. According to the responding barangay tanod, the heavy rainfall caused flooding in Tayuman Street, prompting Garcia to enter the store.

However, they were unable to approach the area immediately due to concerns that electricity may have leaked into the water.

ā€œSa lakas po ng ulan, hindi po ako masyado pumunta roon kasi meron pa pong kuryento doon. Pero may mga nakaresponde na pong mga bumbero saka mga pulis,ā€ said Danilo Dela PeƱa.

Ernesto Garcia, the victimā€™s father claimed that the store had safety deficiencies. ā€œMalaki ang pagkukulang kasi kung may safety doon, maaari pang makaligtas. Ang pagkukulang doon baka hindi na-inspect ang wire. Panawagan ko, sanaā€™y gastusan na lang nila sa punerarya hanggang sa maihatid sa Tanay.ā€

An autopsy was conducted on the victim’s body to determine the cause of death. The police continue their investigation into the incident.
