It’s Showtime Allegedly to Replace Noontime Slot of Eat Bulaga on GMA
Kapamilya variety show It’s Showtime allegedly eyed to replace the noontime slot of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Cristy Fermin’s newest showbiz vlog discussed the potential of ‘Eat Bulaga’ being replaced by ‘It’s Showtime’ in the GMA Network’s noontime slot. It can be recalled that the Jalosjos family did not expect GMA to agree to run Its Showtime on one of their networks.
Cristy stated that GMA’s choice to introduce their number one competitor into the same network would have an impact on TAPE Inc, the producer of Eat Bulaga. Cristy claimed that GMA Network had outwitted TAPE Inc.
According to Cristy, GMA Network and its CEO Felipe Gozon were wise enough to provide a slot to Showtime as a backup plan if ‘Eat Bulaga’ continued to have problems. Fermin thought Gozon had foretold that TAPE’s Eat Bulaga would end earlier than expected.
TAPE was also dealing with trademark issues, as Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon were already pursuing the rights to the title ‘Eat Bulaga.’ If the iconic trio won the case, TAPE would be forced to stop using the ‘Eat Bulaga’ title, which could harm the show’s popularity. And, as a businessman, Gozon knew how to devise a contingency plan.
“Magaling si Gozon na-foresee niya na hindi tatagal ang fake Bulaga kaya kinuha ang It’s Showtime to replace them eventually,” said Fermin.
“‘Yun ‘yung umiikot ngayon eh, na anytime ‘yun na talaga ang ipapalit na main noontime ng 7,” she added in her show.
