Manila Residents Beat Man Involved in Alleged Burglary at One Neighbor’s House

A 22-year-old man was injured after being attacked by several residents of Barangay 52 in Tondo, Manila, following an alleged burglary at one of their neighbors’ houses.

The man, who was riding a motorcycle, was supposed to be taken to the barangay hall when angry residents confronted him upon reaching Almario Street. They immediately surrounded him and physically assaulted him.

Barangay officials responded to the scene to intervene and brought the suspect to the police station. According to reports, the incident occurred around 2:30 am when the victim woke up and discovered that his cell phone was missing beside him while he slept.

His driver’s license, P3,000 in cash, and two pairs of branded slippers were also stolen.

The suspect was severely beaten and was taken to the hospital, where only one pair of slippers was recovered from him.

The suspect admitted to the crime and claimed that he needed money. It was also discovered that this was not the first time he had allegedly stolen from residents in the same barangay, prompting the victim to pursue charges against him.

The culprit is currently in the custody of the Tayuman Police Community Precinct and will face theft charges.

Additionally, this incident highlights the importance of implementing effective security measures, such as neighborhood watch programs, surveillance systems, and proper lighting in residential areas.
