Annette Gozon-Valdes reacted to this article about the TVJ-TAPE Issue
An article from Bilyonaryo.com about the TVJ-TAPE issue did not sit well with GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes.
On June 21, 2023, the said online news site published an article with the title “Eat Bulagta sa GMA? Gozon cheers ‘It’s Showtime’ but silent on imminent doom of blocktimer TAPE.” This is about the new partners between the Kapamilya noontime show and GTV, which is owned by GMA.
Previously, Gozon-Valdes shared that it was ABS-CBN that approached GMA first regarding GTV’s noontime slot for It’s Showtime.
TVJ will take over the Kapamilya noontime show’s slot on TV5 after their contract ends. The iconic trio and the rest of the Dabarkads decided to leave TAPE Inc., the production company behind Eat Bulaga which continues to air on GMA with a new set of hosts.
A portion of Bilyonaryo’s article cited this: “When Tito, Vic and Joey (TVJ) and their co-hosts and creative team resigned from TAPE last month, the management led by Jalosjos children were grateful that GMA has assured them of its “full support in making Eat Bulaga bigger.” Gozon’s law firm – Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila Law Offices – is the legal counsel of Jalosjos.”
This caught the attention of GMA’s Senior VP. In a Facebook post, Annette Gozon-Valdes shared Bilyonaryo’s article with clarification about the aforementioned claim.
“To correct this article, Belo Gozon Law Firm is NOT the law firm of Jalosjos/Tape,” she stressed. Gozon-Valdes also said that GMA already released a statement about the issue between TVJ and TAPE.
Right after the trio announced their decision to depart from the Jalosjos-owned production company, the Kapuso management released a statement. In the statement, the network stressed that it has still an existing contract with TAPE until 2024.
