PAGASA Says ITCZ to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the intertropical convergence zone will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Friday (June 23, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The intertropical convergence zone will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. It will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

“Partikular sa Palawan, Visayas, at northern section ng Mindanao ay patuloy na makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na mag pag-ulan, pagkulog, at pag kidlat. Ngayong [umaga] pa lang sa ilang bahagi ng Western Visayas, partikular na sa northern section ng Panay Island, ay may naitala na tayong thunderstorm activity,” weather specialist Daniel Villamil said.

The Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Palawan, rest of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao as well as the rest of the country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.

Villamin said that no LPA is expected to develop within the next few days.

“Sa ngayon ay wala pa tayong minomonitor na low pressure area o sama ng panahon sa loob at labas ng Philippine area of responsibility na maaaring makaapekto sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” Villamil added.
