Newborn Baby Discovered Alive Inside Sack After Abandoned by Parents in Cebu

Police authorities arrested live-in couple for allegedly placing their own newborn baby inside sack and throw it in Liloan, Cebu.

According to a GMA’s Balitang Bisdak report, a waste collector discovered a living newborn infant while doing work in Liloan town. The garbage collector said he discovered the infant inside the sack after hearing it whimper.

Authorities identified the baby’s parents as Vilma Jemes Sayre and Raul Taritas. According to the report, they were apprehended  at their home after abandoning the newborn infant in Barangay San Vicente.

Based on the report, they thought the baby was dead, so they packed it and tossed it in the garbage. According to Liloan Police Station Chief Police Major Eric Gingoyon, a teenage garbage collector discovered the wailing newborn with its umbilical cord still attached in a dumpsite.

When questioned, the garbage collector stated that he witnessed Taritas throw a sack. Sayre gave birth on Monday early morning, and the baby was considered to be dead because it was not wailing like other newborn infants, according to the Liloan Police Station inquiry.

The mother admitted that her live-in partner, Taritas, abandoned the baby because she couldn’t accept it and she refused to carry it. Authorities have taken the live-in couple into custody for further questioning.
