PAGASA Says Typhoon Chedeng Intensifies But Will Not Bring Heavy Rains Over PH Landmass

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Chedeng intensified but not likely to bring heavy rains in the country.

On Saturday (June 10, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Chedeng will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Chedeng was last spotted 875 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Chedeng will remain far from Philippine landmass and expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday evening (June 11) or Monday early morning (June 12).

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas.

Habagat and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The enhanced southwest monsoon will bring gusty conditions over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Camiguin, and Dinagat Islands.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the seaboards of extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of mainland Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough, according to the weather bureau.
