Earthquake: 4.6 Magnitude Quake Rocks Sulu

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Sulu, June 3, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Hadji Panglima Tahil, Sulu today, Saturday, June 3, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Sulu. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.6.

The earthquake that struck Sulu today, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 01:40 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Hadji Panglima Tahil.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Sulu was located at 06.10°North, 120.91°East – 006 km North 89° West of Hadji Panglima Tahil. It had a depth of focus of 019 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, Intensity III was felt in Zamboanga City and Intensity IV in Jolo, Sulu while the following instrumental intensity were recorded in Zamboanga City.
