Alden Richards addressed the speculations about his gender identity
Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards reacted to the gender identity issue that has been thrown at him several times.
It is known to many showbiz fans that Alden was rumored to be gay. There was even a rumor claiming that he went to a gay bar. Apparently, this speculation was ignited by the fact that he has not introduced anyone as his girlfriend.
In a recent interview by talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, based on the article in The Philippine Star, the Kapuso actor addressed the gay issue.
Ogie asked his guest if he does not get offended when people speculate about his gender identity because he has no girlfriend. Alden Richards said that he gets used to this.
The actor also said that what matters is how he sees himself. “Kilala ko po ang sarili ko, kilala po ako nu’ng mga tao sa paligid ko, matagal ko na silang kasama,” he said.
Alden stressed that he does not want to use someone just to address this issue. “Ayoko naman po na para tumahimik ‘yung issue na ‘yun, is gagamit ako ng ibang tao para lang matapalan ‘yung issue kasi kawawa naman ‘yung tao. Hindi po kasi ako gan’un,” the actor explained.
Alden also expressed the reason why he has not directly addressed the gender identity issue. He said that it is because he does not see the need to speak about this and to prove himself.
“Mas okay na, okay lang, tuloy lang nila. Sanay naman na po ako d’yan. Pero ako, to myself, alam ko kung saan ako papunta… Mag-twe-12 years na po, hindi namatay ‘yan eh,” Alden Richards added.
