A grim incident unfolded at a junk food factory in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City, as a 26-year-old employee lost his life after being shot by the company’s security guard. The victim, identified as Ricardo Alanic Yara Jr., had a confrontation with the guard, leading to a tragic outcome. The incident takes place on the evening of May 17, 2023.
Ricardo Alanic Yara Jr., a resident of Barangay Talaga in Alegria town, southwest Cebu, was employed at the junk food factory where the incident occurred. Tragically, his life was cut short when a dispute with the company’s security guard took a fatal turn.
According to Cabancalan Police Station 4 desk officer Police Corporal Antonio Lucero, the culprit’s anger had been simmering due to the victim’s perceived interference in his job. Repeated clashes between the two had exacerbated the situation, escalating tensions within the workplace.
On the evening of Wednesday, May 17, 2023, another argument ensued between Yara and the guard. As tempers flared, the guard, unable to contain his rage, resorted to a devastating act, firing a fatal shot at Yara.
The sudden and tragic event shocked and distressed the factory and its employees. After the incident, the guard fled the scene, evading immediate arrest. Law enforcement agencies swiftly initiated a manhunt, with the aim of bringing the perpetrator to justice.
The guard’s identity has been withheld for legal reasons.
