17-Year-Old Boy & Siblings Received Help From Authorities After Abandoned by Their Mom
The 17-year-old boy and his younger siblings who were abandoned by their mom enjoyed eating at a fast food in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.
In a heartwarming display of community care and support, officials from the Barangay Tabok and City Social Welfare and Services have come to the aid of a 17-year-old boy and his younger siblings who were allegedly abandoned by their mother.
Daven, not his real name, had to stop schooling and take care of his 5-year-old sister and 1-year-old brother when their mother left them for two months.
The teenager was unable to provide for his siblings, and while some relatives helped out, they could only do so much as they had their families to take care of as well.
The boy reached out to the Barangay Tabok officials, who then coordinated with the City Social Welfare and Services to provide aid to the family. The personnel from the CSWS gave the children food and groceries, and are working towards finding a long-term solution for the family.
Recently, the children enjoyed a treat of fast food with councilor Jennifer Del Mar, Barangay Tabok officials, and CSWS personnel, who expressed their support and encouragement for Daven’s dedication to his studies.
The community’s support and intervention will hopefully help Daven and his siblings in the long term. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there are people and organizations ready to lend a helping hand.
