Overflowing Basket of Vegetables & Fruits for Mother’s Day Being Sold

MOTHER’S DAY – Overflowing basket of vegetables and fruits, sold at the community pantry for Mother’s Day.

Maginhawa Community Pantry founder Ana Patricia Non and her group is selling overflowing basket of goods for the upcoming mother’s day, where the proceeds will be used to continue supporting local farmers.

In a Facebook post, Non said that they thought of offering baskets of fruits and vegetables as Mother’s Day is approaching since most moms are practical. The post garnered various reactions from the internet users.

The “Bayong para kay Nanay” of the Community Pantry PH contains an apron, brown rice, vegetables such as carrots, cauliflower, string beans, cabbage, chayote, white onions, and celery, as well as fruits such as pineapple, papaya, plantain, sweet potato, melon, and jicama.

“Pinagawa ang mga apron sa mga Nanay ng Payatas. Sila ay survivor ng extra judicial killings dahil sa Oplan Tokhang at naging livelihood na nila ang pagtatahi,” Non said.

Non also mentioned that the senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) of Commonwealth, Quezon City, were among those who helped in making the baskets.

All of their sales will go to the start of their “Community Pantry sustainable food program,” which aims to continue supporting local farmers, providing affordable food, and ultimately “freeing most of us from hunger.”

The said basket, which weighs 10.5 kilos, costs ₱1,500, excluding shipping fees. To ensure the quality of the Bayong para kay Nanay, the group will only limit the orders to 200 customers.
