Toddler Prefers Vegetables Over Fried Chicken

Toddler Caught Attention of Netizens as He Prefers Vegetables Over Fried Chicken

A toddler’s preference for vegetables over fried chicken goes viral, eliciting a variety of comments from the online community.

Mothers have been known to have a common struggle when it comes to getting their children to eat their vegetables. However, one four-year-old boy by the name of Anderson Layog seems to be the exception to the rule, as he prefers broccoli over fried chicken.

A TikTok video has been making the rounds on social media, showing Anderson’s disdain and irritation towards a tray of fried chicken and rice, and nodding with approval when asked if he prefers vegetables.

In fact, Anderson was beaming with excitement when presented with a tray of vegetables and rice, with his favorite vegetable being the crunchy and nutritious broccoli.

Anderson’s mother, Yen Layog, shared that when they started introducing solid foods to Anderson, she made sure to include a variety of healthy options such as vegetables, fruits, pasta, and yogurt, alongside plain rice.

Yen allowed Anderson to have sweets when he turned two, but she quickly realized that children become picky eaters once they taste sweets. She advised other parents to avoid giving their children too many sweets, as it may limit their willingness to try other foods.

Layon also knows that presentation is key when it comes to encouraging children to eat. She makes sure to serve vegetables in an appealing way, as well as incorporating meat into Anderson’s diet to ensure that he gets the protein he needs.

However, she admits that this can be a challenge, especially when it comes to pork dishes.

It’s important to note the old saying, “Ang gulay, pangpahaba ng buhay,” which means that vegetables are essential for a long and healthy life. Anderson is proof that with the right approach, even young children can develop a love for vegetables and healthy foods.
