Meet Teacher Celeste L. Mendoza, a teacher from the School of Saint Anthony in Lagro, Quezon City who launched donation driver to help communities in need.

Teacher Celeste L. Mendoza, a teacher from the School of Saint Anthony in Lagro, Quezon City, is gaining attention on social media because of her immersion and donation drives to help communities in need, particularly in terms of education.

Her recent donation drive aims to help the Mangyan community in Oriental Mindoro by providing school supplies for 303 Mangyan students at the Castor F. Solabo Memorial School in Dayhagan Bongabong.

The Mangyan community is composed of families of farmers, fishermen, and indigenous Mangyans. Teacher Celeste’s advocacy is to help the youth in these communities continue their education despite their difficult living conditions.

In her Facebook post, Teacher Celeste also shared that her donation drive started in 2022, wherein she combined her passion for travel and immersion programs with her advocacy for education.

She encourages people to donate school supplies like notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, rulers, toothbrushes, socks, and combs. The first donation drive called “100 Pag-asa” was held on June 11, 2022, in Sitio Abot Cawag Resettlement in Subic, Zambales.

The program was able to distribute 150 sets of school supplies to the Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School in Castillejos, Zambales.
