Christopher de Leon went through a downfall after he became famous
Veteran actor Christopher de Leon recalled the time when he got blinded by fame and lost almost everything.
Christopher has done iconic roles in movies and he is one of the pillars of the Philippine entertainment industry. Many artists from the younger generation look up to him and aspire to have a project with him.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Christopher admitted that his showbiz career also went through a downfall and this was the time when he thought that he was so high.
Back then, the fact that he was famous and earning a lot of money consumed him in a negative way. “You feel like you’re Superman,” Christopher de Leon said.
When he got famous, he was already on his own. The award-winning actor was already able to have his own house at a young age. “I had my own house at naging tambayan ng group yun every weekend. Parties left and right. And then you got lost. You got blinded by fame,” he said.
This situation went too bad and reached the point that nobody wanted to hire him anymore because he became a headache. He shared that there was a time when producers would personally wake him up in order for him to work.
He said that he lost everything. The properties he was able to acquire from his earning were gone.
“Nasangla ko na ‘yung bahay. Nabangga na yung mga kotse ko. Zero balance na ako sa bank. Umabot na ako roon. I resigned from the Bananas Group because I want to recover and change my ways. I was just saying help!” Christopher de Leon said.
Through his children, slowly, he changed. He realized that he needs his family to survive and that he is lucky to have everything but he just threw it all away. The veteran actor shared that changing for the better requires a “superpower.”
