OFW Exposes the “Tissue” Modus of Airline Employees at NAIA

OFW Reveals Experience with “Tissue” Modus of Airline Employees at NAIA

A supposed to be fraud victim Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) exposed the “tissue” modus operandi of airline employees at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

An OFW called Rinkashifu Miyakakishi Reyes informed fellow OFWs on Facebook after her experience with scam staff at NAIA Terminal 2. The event occurred on May 4 in the morning, as she was queuing at the check-in area, according to his story.

A member of staff phoned her and sent her to window 74. She was asked for her passport and then informed that her flight had been canceled. It is claimed that the staff performed a variety of dubious procedures there. Reyes was moved from flight PR736 to flight 11:30.

“Me: “Huh? Bkit nasuspended?” In the back of my mind, Magme-message sa akin ang agency ng school namin ahead of time to inform me that my flight will be suspended, eh wala namang message ang agency,” Reyes said in her post.

When her suitcase was weighed, it was discovered that she had excess baggage, but what startled her was the P11,000 fine. When she realized she didn’t have any cash, she was told to pay by online banking or GCash.

The personnel allegedly merely kept doing what they were doing before handing Reyes’ boarding pass and a tissue. An account number to which she should transfer the funds was written on the tissue.

“Sabay labas nya sa window nya at sabi nya,” Ma’am sa akin nyo n lng po ipasa, andyan po sa tissue ung account ko.”

Me: “Magkano ang ipapasa ko?”

Staff (w74): “Kayo n po ang bahala. Pero 5k po ung nakalagay don”

Me: Nakalagay saan? (Ahh ako na pala ang bahala huh, mag-antay ka sa wala. matakaw ka!)”

Reyes is claimed to have simply accepted the scenario, but she became aware in the following scene. She allegedly promised the personnel that she would send the P5,000 online after receiving her travel card and checking in her bags. She claimed she was instructed to use simply the word ‘May’ in the account name.

But it didn’t stop there since a guard approached her and told her to go to a refund area when he discovered she was an OFW. The personnel at window 74 answered as well, telling her to wait for their orientation. Reyes, on the other hand, ignored them and continued on her flight.

When he arrived at the boarding gate, the female personnel at window 74 contacted her again and charged her the stated amount, but she agreed to pay only P2,000.

However, the employees did not agree and ordered her to leave. Reyes became enraged and stated that she could not be demoted since she is an OFW and her family relies on her. In the end, Reyes did not succumb to their modus.
