DTI Shuts Down 2 Vape Shops Adding Various Flavors to Their Products

2 Vape Shops Adding Various Flavors to Their Products Closed by DTI

Two vape shops that were found to be adding various flavors such as turon, honey butter, and a frozen margarita to their products have been closed down by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the local government of Valenzuela.

According to the reports, vaporized nicotine or vape flavors are prohibited by law.

In addition, the vape shops lacked a business permit and other necessary documents, so they were shut down and banned from operating by the DTI and the local government of Valenzuela.

The location of vape shops was also not in compliance, as they were located near schools.

“Much worse kasi tapat lang po ng university namin ‘yan. One hundred meters po ang distance between the establishment and universities, churches, parks and government centers. Violation kaagad,” Mayor Wes Gatchalian said.

The owner of the vape shop was not present during the inspection conducted by the authorities, and the employee there refused to speak. They could be fined up to P5 million, depending on the violation and the number of times they have committed it.

According to Dr. Via Jucille Roderos, vape chemicals can harm the lungs and affect other parts of the body, leading to illnesses such as hypertension and other heart diseases.
