Gloria Diaz Reveals Stand On Married Women Joining Miss Universe

Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz is not in favor of married women joining the prestigious pageant.

GLORIA DIAZ – This is what Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz said about the Miss Universe organization allowing mothers and married women to join.

In the over 70-year history of Miss Universe, only single women who are between 18 and 28 years of age were allowed to join. But last year, the president of the Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart announced a big change.

Moms and wives are now allowed to compete in the competition but candidates should still be between ages 18 to 28.

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray believed that it is now high time “to allow women in whatever capacity to go after the dream of being a Miss Universe”.

But Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz has a different opinion about this.

“Di dapat, Universe na lang, huwag nang Miss. Kasi, hindi na Miss yon, di ba?” she said. But this is just her personal opinion and not something to be taken by the public in a negative way.

She believes that they should have their own competition because there are Mrs. Universe, Lesbian Universe, and Tranny Universe pageants now.

“There is room for so much. Oo, mga category na ganoon, ganyan. Tapos, kasi even sa Mrs. Universe, andaming magaganda diyan na nanganak na. OK lang yon!” she added.

She believes firmly that women of different titles must have their respective competitions according to a report from PEP.

Meanwhile, the 72nd Miss Universe pageant will be held in El Salvador this December, and the local pageant will be on May 13 and will be held in the Mall Of Asia Arena.
