Arnie Teves Airs Dismay on DOJ Over their Actions Against Him
Suspended Negros Oriental Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr airs dismay towards the Department of Justice (DOJ) over their actions against him.
According to Teves, the government appears to be using them as a “trophy” to prove that he is the mastermind behind the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo. He even compared himself to Gerald Bantag, the suspended chief of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
“Feeling ko, ginagawa nila kaming, other than business interest, ginagawa nila kaming trophy. Pareho kami ni Bantag. Na gusto na nilang kumita, gusto pa nilang sumikat,” said Teves in the media briefing.
In response, Justice Department Spokesperson Mico Clavano stated that the department is and always will be evidence-based. Teves had previously claimed that police had raided several of his other properties, including the most recent, a chicken farm, based on the report.
“This is really persecution already. Sobra na ito, hindi na ito dapat. Mali na talaga. Sobra na ang pang-aapak sa karapatang pantao,” said Teves.
The PNP Joint Task Force, AFP, CIDG, and NBI all denied that they are conducting raids at Teves’ property. When asked what the administration would benefit by pushing him, the suspended congressman replied:
“It is a show of force. Hindi naman sa pagmamayabang, may pangalan na rin tayo. Eh ‘di magmumukha silang malakas, na napatumba nila ‘yung isang tao na… siyempre meron din naman tayong standing sa publiko, maraming followers, kilala rin tayo nang kaunti,” he said.
