Guanzon Questions Senate for Conducting Hearing for Murder and Not for Inflation Rate

P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon questioned the senate hearing for murder and not for the inflation rate.

The retired Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner asks the Senate Committee a question on Twitter. She inquired as to why there was no hearing on inflation when there was one on murder.

“Senate hearing ng murder ? Bakit walang hearing ang tungkol sa inflation rate ?” Guanzon said in her Twitter post.

Inflation was reported to be one of the key challenges during President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s first year in office. From Monday, April 17, to Wednesday, April 19, the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs held a hearing on the assassination of Negros Oriental Gov. On March 4, Roel Degamo was born.

Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative, was scrutinized at the hearing. Teves is one of the suspects in the case. Teves was initially invited to speak during the Senate inquiry into the Degamo and Negros homicides via teleconference by Senator Ronald dela Rosa, chairwoman of the committee on public order and hazardous narcotics.

However, Janice Degamo, Mayor of Pamplona, also asked the Senate not to allow Teves to attend the video conference hearing. Due to jurisdictional issues, the Senate committee unanimously voted not to allow the suspended congressman to testify.
