Sugbo Bike Lanes Board Prepares for Bike Registration & Biker’s Licensing
The Sugbo Bike Lanes Board is actively preparing for the upcoming bike registration and bikers’ licensing initiative in Cebu City, Philippines.
According to Bernard Maraasin, Executive Director of the Sugbo Bike Lanes Board, they are now making the required provisions to expedite the registration process for both bikers and their bikes.
Efforts are underway to develop an online application for bike registration. However, if the software is not ready in time, manual registration may be considered as an alternative. Maraasin also mentioned that he will seek approval from the rest of the Sugbo Bike Lanes Board regarding this matter.
The primary objective of bike registration is to ensure the safety of bikers by enforcing rules and regulations related to active transport. Registration will also enable authorities to easily apprehend and impose penalties on violators of these rules.
Additionally, registering bikes will make it more convenient to identify and recover confiscated or stolen bikes.
Currently, the Cebu bike lanes patrollers are actively involved in an intensive information dissemination effort, increasing awareness about the importance of registering bikes and acquiring a license, as well as educating cyclists about correct bike lane use and adherence to traffic policies.
The group is taking proactive measures to promote safe and responsible biking practices in Cebu City, with the aim of enhancing the overall biking experience and ensuring the well-being of bikers and other road users alike.
