Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Sur, April 18, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.3 magnitude quake in Surigao del Sur today, Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Surigao del Sur. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.3.
The earthquake that struck Surigao del Sur, today, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 07:42 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Cagwait.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Sur was located at 09.04°North, 126.87°East – 064 km North 78° East of Cagwait with a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity as well as instrumental intensity was recorded by the quake-monitoring agency as per its release.
