Suspect on DLSU Student Leanne Daguinsin Slay Finally Arrested

Authorities finally arrested the suspect in Leanne Daguinsin slay and allegedly attempted to stab a cop amid arrest.

The suspect in the robbery and murder of a 24-year-old computer science student in Dasmarias, Cavite, has been detained, according to the Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO).  The suspect even attempted to assault one of the officers who arrested him.

According to CPPO, Angelito Erlano, 39, was apprehended at a residence around 10:40 a.m. When Erlano was discovered hiding at the residence of one of his acquaintances in Barangay Victoria Reyes, officers from the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Dasmarias City Police Station were conducting a follow-up operation.

Erlano allegedly attempted to stab a police officer with a screwdriver but was quickly apprehended, based on the report of GMA News. Erlano’s identity had previously been revealed when officials launched an investigation and discovered where he was staying.

The dress and shorts alleged to have been worn at the time of the crime were the first to be seen. Also discovered was the victim’s bag. The victim’s bloody corpse, Queen Leanne Daguinsin, was discovered in her rented dormitory in Barangay Santa Fe on Tuesday. Daguinsin was stabbed 14 times in various regions of his body and neck.

The reward is over P1,100,000 or placed on the head of the suspect who can provide information on its whereabouts from Governor Jonvic Remulla (P300,000); Senator Bong Revilla (P300,000); Dasmarinas City Government (P300,000); and Mayor Jenny Barzaga and Congressman Pidi Barzaga (P100,000 each). The suspect was also charged with a robbery last year, according to information obtained.

The suspect will face robbery with homicide and direct assault on a person in authority charges. The suspect was previously involved in thefts, according to the police record.
