Rescue Team Saves Woman w/ Personal Struggles From Falling Off Building in Manila

The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that the rescue team saved a woman after almost falling off a building in Binondo, Manila.

A woman was rescued after almost falling off a building in Binondo, Manila. According to the Manila Police District (MPD), a 22-year-old woman who lives in Ligaya Building on Alvarado St. in Binondo was rescued on Friday (March 31, 2023) at around 9:31 am.

The police received a call from a concerned citizen around 8 am, informing them that someone was sitting on the edge of the rain gutter on the sixth floor of the Ligaya Building.

Upon receiving the report, the MPD, Bureau of Fire District (BFP) – Special Rescue Force, and Manila Disaster and Risk Management Office (DRRMO) immediately responded to the incident.

When the rescuers arrived at the scene, they saw the woman clinging to the edge of the building. The BFP officer tried to approach her, but she resisted and even bit the officer’s leg. The rescuers then had to negotiate with her for almost an hour before they were able to approach and bring her inside the building.

The woman was reportedly going through a difficult time in her personal life. She told the responders that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and was feeling extremely sad and depressed.

According to the MPD report, the woman was taken to the BFP Emergency Medical Services unit for medical examination before being transferred to the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Santa Cruz, Manila.
