Family Hospitalized After Suffering From Food Poisoning for Eating Chicken
A family in Tampakan, South Cotabaro allegedly suffered from food poisoning after eating chicken for breakfast.
Food poisoning is a serious health issue that can occur as a result of consuming food that is contaminated with harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals. It can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fever, among others.
It is essential to practice good food safety habits, such as washing your hands, properly cooking and storing food, and avoiding cross-contamination, to prevent food poisoning.
Recently, in Tampakan, South Cotabato, a family of five has reportedly fallen ill due to food poisoning caused by consuming chicken.
The incident took place in Purok Madasigon, Barangay Liberty, where the family resides. The victims have been identified as Ryza Mae Mazo, 7 years old, Jerlan Mazo, 22, Daniel Mazo, 28, Jessica Mazo, 50, and Jomar Mazo, 26, all of whom are members of the same household.
According to the eldest sibling, the family enjoyed their breakfast, which included chicken as the main dish.
Prior to the incident, they noticed that the chicken appeared to be sick, so they immediately slaughtered it for their meal. After consuming the chicken, they began to experience symptoms such as stomach pains, vomiting, dizziness, and other similar issues.
Upon further investigation, Daniel Mazo discovered that several other chickens on their property had died, and they suspected that the chickens had eaten corn that was laced with poison from their cousin’s field near their home.
However, their cousin denied the accusation, insisting that he had only used fertilizer on the corn and not poison.
The family members were immediately brought to the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, where they received medical attention. Fortunately, they are now in stable condition, and their health is improving.
