Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Ilocos Norte, March 28, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Ilocos Norte today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Ilocos Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.6.
The earthquake that struck Ilocos Norte, today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 01:51 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Burgos.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Ilocos Norte was located at 18.67°North, 120.14°East – 056 km North 72° West of Burgos with a depth of focus of 012 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were recorded in these areas:

- Pasuquin, llocos Norte
- Bacarra, llocos Norte
- Laoag City, llocos Norte
- Carasi, llocos Norte
- Burgos, llocos Norte
- Batac City, llocos Norte
- Intensity I
- Sinait, Ilocos Sur
