Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, March 16, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.3 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 5.3.
The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental, today, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 05:25 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Sarangani Island.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.07°North, 127.06°East – 181 km South 76° East of Sarangani Island with a depth of focus of 006 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was felt on the quake but Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental and Malungon, Sarangani.
