Salilig Case “Person of Interest” Claim Contradicts Testimony of Another Frat Member

Update on Salilig Case Investigation of Persons of Interest, Suspects

SALILIG CASE – The claim of a “person of interest” in the case contradicted the testimony submitted by another frat member.

Several persons of interest in the death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig have yet to reach out to the authorities. The 3rd year chemical engineering student was found dead more than a week after attending the welcoming rites of a fraternity that he was a member of, the Tau Gamma Phi.

Matt was a member of the fraternity group in Zamboanga City. His brother narrated that he informed him that he will be attending the welcoming rites of the group to be held in Laguna. However, since he left, he was not able to contact them or come home.

Matt was missing for more than a week. His lifeless body was found buried in a shallow grave in Biñan, Laguna. He was laid to rest last March 4 together with his late grandfather who died a few days before he went missing.

Several suspects are now under the custody of the police authorities. There are also persons of interest who have reached out to the authorities as well as another victim who claimed that he was also initiated during the welcoming rites held in Laguna.

Recently, a person of interest, alias Biggie, reached out to the authorities and claimed that he left early. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, alias Biggie said that he was invited to join the welcoming rites as an officer of the San Pedro chapter of the fraternity.

According to alias Biggie, he left early and was surprised to learn that Salilig died. He also claimed that what he knew was that there will be an incoming rites and initiation but he did not know that there would be hazing. He expressed that nobody was hurt when he joined the fraternity.

However, based on the report, the claim of the said person of interest in Salilig case contradicts the statement of another frat member. In the said testimony, it is stated that alias Biggie was part of the group chat that discussed the initiation. He also testified that alias Biggie was part of the group who arrived in the morning and even polished the paddle in front of the “carinderia” where they ate just beside the road and they were waiting for the paddle to be dry.

In the testimony of the unidentified frat member, it is also stated that the group chat also contained the appeal of one of their members to bring Salilig to the hospital but alias Void opposed to it and allegedly said to just drop Salilig and advised those who are riding motorcycles to stay away from CCTVs.
