Yeng Constantino Doesn’t Feel Threatened By New Artists, Here’s Why

Yeng Constantino was asked about her secret about her longevity in showbiz

Kapamilya singer Yeng Constantino said that she doe not feel threatened by new artists making their own names in the entertainment industry.

Yeng rose to fame after winning the 2006 edition of the ABS-CBN’s defunct talent search Pinoy Dream Academy. From that, she soared high doing shows and major concerts here in the Philippines and abroad.

A decade and a half after she started pursuing her dream, Yeng remained one of the cherished singers of the Kapamilya network.

Although new artists keep on coming, Yeng Constantino shared in a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, that she is not threatened by this. She said that it is because she knows why she is still in the industry even after a long time.

Yeng recalled that during the singing competition, she was already aware that she was not the most beautiful and she asked herself if she will be able to make it having other contestants that she thought had edges over her.

She said that not to feel superior to other artists who are her contemporaries. “Kaya alam ko yung suwerte, e, na parang, ‘Lord, pag may dumarating go for it. Go, gawin mo kung ano ang gusto mong gawin.’ Kapag nakapasok ka na, yun yung parang, ‘At last, nandito na ako, nakasampa rin.’ Para siyang ganun, para siyang tren, parang tumatakbo everytime at gusto mong makapasok pero maraming nag-uunahan,” she explained.

Once she’s there, all she feels is gratefulness and she celebrates if an artist will able to make it in the industry because she knows how difficult it is to start a career in showbiz.

When asked about longevity in showbiz, Yeng Constantino said that she is aware that many singing competition winners got a series of opportunities for only a short period of time only and suddenly projects are gone.

“Sa side ko, ‘Panginoon, sobrang salamat na nandito pa ako.’ Kaya pag ako tinatanong more than anything, yun talaga ang grateful ako sa Panginoon, ‘Lord, salamat na nandito pa ako,’” the singer said.

She is also thankful to Cornerstone Entertainment for supporting her and handling her career very well.
